Weekend Review of Racing

Blaklion obliged up the Cheltenham hill on his second attempt, after being beaten into second by Parlour Games last time out. The Nigel Twiston-Davies trained five year old proved himself a force to be reckoned with, asserting respect with the way he went about his business. Jamie Moore was due to ride, but took a fall on No Buts & was stood down by the on course doctor. Ryan Hatch was given the ride by Nigel Twiston-Davies & didn't put a foot wrong. Parish Business made the running & contested a fair way out under Aiden Coleman but faded to finish fourth. 33/1 shot Anteros took second spot beating Favourite, Port Melon by three & a half lengths. Blaklion had gone clear by seven lengths approaching the last & breezed over to win like an odds-on shot, putting an impressive 11 lengths under his belt. Nigel hinted of Blaklion's path, "The Albert Bartlett will be the aim with him, but we'll see how he is after this and look at what there is for him to decide if he runs before then."

Peace & Co trained by Nicky Henderson made a 19 length mockery of his opposition at Doncaster for his British debut. Daryl Jacob took the honours & had to work hard to restrain Peace and Co who ran with an earnest attitude, which is about where the work stopped for Jacob. A slick round of jumping, without error makes Nicky Henderson's French import a very interesting addition to this seasons jumping prospects. "He feels a bit special" Daryl Jacob was fooling no one with his comments after the race.

Hennesy Gold Cup Weekend Review

On Saturday Newbury's Hennesy Gold Cup was the feature of the day. A wide open contest, you could make cases for half the field. Mullins' Djakadam headed the market. Age knocked the confidence in the favourite, with punters looking for a more experienced chaser, the market suggestedHoublon Des Obeaux made a bold bid to pick up the prize for Venetia Williams Aidan Coleman. In touch throughout, Houblon Des Obeaux went on with Many Clouds & Merry King to fight it out between the trio. Coleman was pegged back by Leighton Aspell on Many Clouds as he battled with Merry King for the line. Houblon Des Obeaux ran a huge race at 50/1 to finish up second after coming back at Merry King, but couldn't do enough to catch Many Clouds, who went on to win by 3 lengths. Jonjo O'Neill said of Merry King ''he ran a great race. Very pleased with him but we need to have a look at his wind''.

Richard Johnson had another cracking weekend landing a nicely priced treble at Newbury on Saturday. Particularly impressive was Philip Hobbs, Bertie Boru. Phone Home came over the last with momentum, going 8 lengths clear under Tom Scudamore. All the while, Johnson got to work on Bertie Boru from the back of the field to get up & pip Phone Home on the line.

I was excited to see Long Dog make his debut for Willie Mullins at Fairyhouse. A well fought second & impressive debut over hurdles, but couldn't do enough to keep Cooper & Marinero from scoring. one to watch for the future no doubt, as with pretty much all the Mullins' horses it seems at the moment.

Weekend Review of Action

Cheltenham-Racecourse-Logo-2

The jumps season has landed & is in full swing with racing at Cheltenham & Punchestown this weekend. Hurricane Fly lined up against current champion hurdler Jezki in a thrilling race for the Morgiana Hurdle at PunchestownJezki was backed off the board prior to the race with confidence the six year old could display champion hurdle form. Hurricane Fly made some small errors but came over the last well to win coming away from Jezki. Hurricane Fly's third success in the Morgiana Hurdle took his grade 1 victory tally to an incredible 20. Nothing was going to stop the dual champion hurdle winner, two miles in the soft. Prior to the race there was talk of stepping Hurricane Fly up to a further distance if he was beat. With Sundays victory Willie Mullins has endless options for his ten year old.(watch the full race below)

Alan Kings Uxizandre looked smart in the Shloer ChaseA clean round of jumping, saw him gain ground on his rivals over every obstacle. Over the last, Uxizandre continued sweetly as Barry Geraghty headed up the hill without fuss. Simply Ned wasn't going to catch Uxizandre but did well to hold off Nicholls' Dodging Bullets by a neck. The drop to two miles looked ideal for the 6 year old who also relished the testing ground at Cheltenham on Sunday. Richard Johnson had an outstanding weekend saddling an impressive seven winners over the three days. The most enjoyable for me had to be little Balthazar King. What the horse lacks in size, he certainly makes up for in heart. He has become somewhat of a Cheltenham specialist racking up his eighth win at the course. Trainer Philip Hobbs has said his target now will be the Grand National after going close a second at the Aintree meeting in April. "You'd love to come here for the Festival, but we thought that if he hadn't run in it this year he might have gone closer (than second) in the National".

Breeders’ Cup Review

breeders-cup-logo

This weekend attention was turned to California where Santa Anita held the Breeders Cup meeting. Trying to figure out those races can be tough with the variety of surfacesGuessing whether a horse will take to the dirt or not, if there's no previous form, isn't the easiestThat being said it's all very exciting seeing trainers & jockeys from all over the world turn up to battle it out on the American stage.

It can happen after taking antibiotics, some medications, eating many sugars, or drinking soda, buy brand levitra using alcohol, etc. However, the impact that this disease makes upon the sufferer could free viagra online be harmful and dangerous as it makes the male reproductive organ hard. Furthermore, when you cialis soft order, UK and EU customers can be assured that male enhancement herbal supplement are indeed safe. The medicine involves an active solution Sildenafil Citrate that enables the opacc.cv tadalafil online cheap process of inhibiting of PDE5.

Many of the bigger fancies of the weekend got found out as Dank, Toronado, Telescope & Shared Belief (although maybe a slightly tainted defeat) were all turned over under the California sun. One that can't go without mention is Bobbys Kitten. An absolute joy to watch in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint. Coming round the bend for home in last position Bobbys Kitten had it all to do. Joel Rosario took the tough route, having to go wide to get a clear run. He had the whole field to beat & did just that to get up & pip Frankie on No Nay Never, with a majestic late surge. It was a sight to behold. Having been previously run at a mile plus, the drop to 6 furlongs brought out the best in the Chad Brown trained 3 year old & was a highlight of the meeting.

The big race really did live up to expectations (see the full race in the video below). California Chrome claimed revenge on Tonalist who denied Cali Chrome the Belmont stakes, for the final piece of the prestigious, triple crown. Getting the better of California Chrome, Jamie Spencer did everything right on Toast Of New York from gate to post. It looked as if he was going to get there, stretching on as the line came, but Bayern toughed it out & held on to take the cool 5 million dollar sum for his troubles. The undefeated favourite for the race, Shared Belief  took a knock from Bayern exiting the stalls, as many from the wide draw veered left. Immediately after the race there was a stewards enquiry but it deemed the interference to be at a stage in the race that did not affect the outcome, & the result stood. Shared Belief did make a go of it finishing 4th after the incident. I can empathize with those connected, & backers of the undefeated 3 year old, but hey, that's racing & a dramatic close to the Breeders Cup for another year.

Weekend Round Up

The clocks change, night sets in quicker & Horses jump over obstacles. Winter is well on its way, welcomed with open arms.

Ruby Walsh is back after suffering injuries last March that seen him sit out the remainder of the Cheltenham festival, & season. He didn't waste any time getting back to his old tricks, winning first time out, followed by another three consecutive wins. He's now 5 from 12 since being back, 3 of which, coming from Willie Mullins hand. On Sunday Ruby paired up with Mullins at Galway. Un Beau Roman was sent off favourite after a slight drift to 7/4. The French import had already dismissed shake the bucket last time out, but was unable to materialise success from that run after bumping The Black Russian coming over the last, allowing Ted Vale a clear run, on the run in.

Ruby contested the 2 mile 1 furlong track always there, or there about. Approaching the second last from home, Un Beau Roman blundered horrifically dismounting Ruby mid-jump. Pumbaa, who had also travelled well throughout, jumped the last & began the climb up the hill before home. Nothing could separate Cavite Beta, Mister Hotelier & Pumbaa. They jostled for positioning whilst the line approached, all looking to be in with a shout. It came down to Burke who managed to find more on Cavite Beta to get his mount up to win by half a length to Mister Hotelier.

Rule 4 Explained

We often get asked by punters what is a Rule 4 deduction (R4), and how to calculate it for a specific horse racing market that has had non runners in it. Non runners are not always a negative towards your bet if it is a hot favourite or a danger that you have highliughted that is pulled for whatever reason, but there is also nothing more frustarting than an outsider reducing your winnings. Some different bookmakers have different rules on the larger priced non runners, and will often waivey any deduction above 10/1 sometimes but in general the official deduction table is as follows:

Rule 4 Deductions
3/10 or shorter = 75p in the £
2/5 to 1/3 = 70p in the £
8/15 to 4/9 = 65p in the £
4/5 to 4/6 = 55p in the £
20/21 to 5/6 = 50p in the £
Evens to 6/5 = 45p in the £
5/4 to 6/4 = 40p in the £
13/8 to 7/4 = 35p in the £
15/8 to 9/4 = 30p in the £
5/2 to 3/1 = 25p in the £
10/3 to 4/1 = 20p in the £
9/2 to 11/2 = 15p in the £
6/1 to 9/1 = 10p in the £
10/1 to 14/1 = 5p in the £
Over 14/1 = No Deductions

If you want a better, happier and healthier sexual life, then VigRx Plus is considered safe online cialis and proven effective by almost all medical professionals. If you’re considering cialis online prices this option, do your homework first.

To calculate the new retuerns of your selection after a NR just follow this simple method. THis can be used for horse racing or any sport where a rule 4 is applicable:

Original returns x (1 – (Rule 4 / 100))

Example:

You backed a horse at 5/1 (£10 stake) and within that race there was a 4/1 non runner, which would be 20p rule 4.

50 x (1-(20/100))

= 50 x 0.8

= 40

It really is that simple! If you have more than one rule then add up all the rule 4's and use the total in the equation above.

My Longchamp Experience

Last weekend I travelled to Longchamp for a weekend of first class racing. To anyone considering attending the meeting next year, don't give it a second thought. Getting to the racecourse couldn't be easier with free buses running from Porte d'Auteuil, just off the metro. I would recommend you back anything you fancy before you go as I was stung by "first past the post", or lack thereof, on the French tote. They also don't take any chances with British horses at a price. I backed Vent De Force at around 12's & got a good run for my money finishing second. I got paid out at a sixth of the price at 2/1. I'm not sure what British bookmakers paid but it's was bound to be a better deal.

At around £11 a day for admission to the racecourse its exceedingly good value for money regarding the first class racing that's on offer. UK racing doesn't compare. You can pay £26 & up for an average day of racing at Perth racecourse (my local), it's a no brainer. Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe was undoubtedly the highlight of the weekend. Seems obvious, but who would have thought the French filly could do it again. After a disappointing couple of runs in the UK & France, deemed to be back & feet issues, she was hard to fancy. A lesson in training master class from Criquette Head-Maarek, overcoming the odds to get last year's Winner back on form. Nothing can be taken away from the way Treve did it, kicking on by two lengths there was no catching her, leaving the rest to fight it out for second spot. Thierry Jarnet delivered Treve at the perfect moment & when he asked her to put the race to bed, no one was going to catch her. Longchamp racecourse erupted with cheers for the filly & emotions ran high as Jarnet gestured cheers towards the 4 year old filly. A very nice end to the terrific filly's career & further cements her place in history. There's no doubt in my mind where I'll be in the first weekend of October 2015.

Hannon’s Speedster delivers at Newmarket

Richard Hannon's speedy two year old Tiggy Wiggy was sent to Newmarket where she faced Anthem Alexander for the third time. They also face the task of finding a new jockey or having Hughes up, 2lb overweight.

National Hunt Season 2014-15 Preview

Introduction

With just over a month until the National Hunt season gets in to full swing, excitement is building for a jumps campaign that is sure to offer plenty of thrills and spills before, during, and after Cheltenham in March.

One of the most exciting battles this National Hunt season is likely to be the Trainers' Championship, won unexpectedly easily by Paul Nicholls last term. With Nicky Henderson welcoming back Sprinter Sacre and Simonsig after injury layoffs, he has a fantastic chance to wrestle the title back from the Ditcheat handler. Henderson is currently favourite on Betfair to win this title, and if his two stable stars are back to their best it is hard to see who else can win it. Jonjo O'Neill, who has a host of talent to call upon, could be the one trainer to come close to beating the big two.

The men to beat

How does it Work? The key role of pharmacy shop link cheap viagra 25mg is to improve the blood circulation and relax the penile muscles. If you live outside of Canada, you will not experience vaginal dryness and make you buy cheap cialis more receptive to sexual advances and causing lubrication of the vagina. Among the herbal remedies the two most honest people in your pharma-bi.com pfizer sildenafil viagra life that will give sound advice. Each individual in gratitude of whom any advancing under this Act has actually been taken buy online viagra for it.

In this preview, we'll visit some of the top yards in UK and Ireland and point out some of the horses to follow for the 2014/15 National Hunt season.

By his own high standards, and considering the number of high quality animals under his care, 2013/14 wasn't the best for Nicky Henderson. Whisper was his only Cheltenham Festival winner in the Coral Cup, but there is plenty of reason to hope for a spectacular season to come at Seven Barrows. Notwithstanding the return of Sprinter Sacre and Simonsig, there are a number of horses trained by Henderson who could be top class in their own right. Josses Hill, second in the Supreme and a winner at Aintree, looks a chaser in the making and should be a live contender for the Arkle come March. Beat That missed Cheltenham last year but won at both Aintree and Punchestown to prove himself as a top staying novice hurdler and could be even better over fences. The RSA looks a legitimate target for Beat That if he goes chasing.

The closest challengers Like Henderson, Paul Nicholls had only one winner at the 2014 Cheltenham Festival, with Lac Fontana proving himself as a stable star with victory in the County Hurdle. With Silviniaco Conti accumulating over £250,000 in prize money, which included wins in the King George and Aintree Bowl, Nicholls had a stranglehold on the trainers' title. It may not be the same this season, but Nicholls certainly has the strength in depth in his yard to make a gallant defence. Saphir du Rheu had a fantastic time of it last season, and developed in to a top class hurdler, winning the Lanzarote and Welsh Champion Hurdle. He looks a fantastic novice chase prospect and will be aimed at the top races over staying trips.

Jonjo O'Neill has a really exciting season ahead with some top class horses at his disposal, but it will be hard to beat the last campaign, which saw the meteoric rise of More Of That from a handicap hurdle at Wetherby in November to becoming World Hurdle hero just three runs later. With a total of just five races under his belt, More Of That could conceivably be even better this term and either retain his World Hurdle crown or become a star staying novice chaser. With Taquin De Seuil and Holywell also in the ranks under O'Neill, it looks like being an excellent 2014/15, with both of those two having the potential to become Gold Cup contenders.
