Team O’Brien silences doubters in the Investec Derby

Up my neck of the woods there was murmurs of torrential rain, flooding & arks being assembled to weather the storms in Epsom. By mid-day the going had changed to, good, soft in places. Even punters who have only ever written "FAV" on their slips were looking past the drifting favourite. A steady pace was established with Our Channel making the running. For a long way out the race was wide open with tactics going well for many, Fallon was working hard on True Story to get a good position from his draw. Australia, Kingston Hill & Arod all travelling purposefully. As the finishing post grew closer, Australia & Kingston Hill were the two to pick it up. Australia always had a short edge on Kingston Hill & did well to hold off the challenge, as Kingston Hill showed no signs of slowing. Australia's one & a quarter length win, cements the potential of her profound pedigree. True Story, Western Hymn & Geoffrey Chaucer were talked up prior to the race but failed to make an impact. Australia's win gifted O'Brien his 3rd consecutive Derby success, prevailing last year with Ruler Of The World, & Camelot the year before, also rode by son Joseph. When O'Brien claimed Australia was the best horse he had trained, it's easy to over look such a remark, they're made all the time by jockeys & trainers. This time we witnessed the real deal. Australia could now be geared towards the Irish Derby at the Curragh on the 28th of June.

California Chrome set out to make racing history in the Belmont stakes. Looking to join the elite eleven who won all three group one races over the five weeks (Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes & Belmont Stakes). Unfortunately it seems his chances were over on the off, taking a nasty knick at the back of his leg. California Chrome held a good position & was in contention throughout, but when the time came to deliver, there seemed to be no more to give. Tonalist took the prestigious prize, but not without a photo finish for the honour. Judges declared Tonalist over second place Commissioner & history books were snapped shut. California Chrome was placed fourth, almost two lengths behind the winner in a dead heat with Wicked Strong. A very exciting build up to the race & millions of viewers tuned in worldwide. It's a real shame co-owner Steve Coburn felt the need to lash out over the rules of the triple crown & overshadow his colt's achievements. He made his spiel on live television, brashly claiming only horses who compete in the Kentucky Derby should be allowed to race in the following two races, which would completely destroy the illustrious event. There's a reason only eleven have succeeded to date.

Derby Day Pointers & Tips

The day kicks off at Epsom at 1.35, with build up and anticipation leading up to the big race at 4 o'clock. This blog post is designed to pint you in the way of some decent bets for the day if yo are watching or even lucky enough to be there with possibly the worst of the rain now passing.

We have picked one or two horses in each race we feel may be worth a dabble as well as poitning you towards any decent bookmaker's offer that are around today and worth taking advantage of.

Flippant 8/1 EW. Not one of the primary contenders you would have to say here but could slip under the radar and showed a really good attitude when winning a Chepstow maiden on return last month in heavy ground over a mile under this rider. Carries a 4lb penalty here, but with the step up in trip unlikely to be a problem looks a solid kind of EW bet.

OFFERS – Sky Bet are offering Money Back if the favourite wins the race.

2.05 6f Class 1 Investec Woodcote Stakes –

Silk Baitha Alga 9/4. Promising debut backed up with an impressive display at Chester next time out to land some hefty bets for some punters. Ground today should be no problem and looks the lead contender again here. Bit of market support earlier today but anything above the 2/1 mark looks a fair enough price to be getting involved.

2.40 1m 4f 10yds Class 1 Investec Coronation Cup

Silk Flintshire 9/2. Favourite Cirrus Des Aigles will be hard to beat here but we think he is worth taking on today and Flintshire ticks plenty of boxes.Tailed off a little bit at the end of last season but given progressive profile had shown earlier in the year coming here on return looks a good opportunity to make his mark as a 4 year old. Plenty bookies offering money back for 2nd places and we would strongly advise using that here!

3.15 5f Class 2 Investec Specialist Bank Dash –

Silk Elusivity 12/1 EW (5 places with Paddy Power, bet365 & Skybet).Been running well recently from this mark, including at York last time and looks well handicapped enough if putting best foot forward today.

4.00 1m 4f 10yds Class 1 Investec Derby –

Kingston Hill 8/1 EW (money back from Race Bets if 2nd behind any O'Brien Horse). There has been plenty of hype surrounding Australia and rightly so but he is certainly not bomb proof so we will take on with Roger Varian's representive. Ran a fair race on return in the 2000 Guineas but can be expected to improve on that now stepped up to this kind of trip.Ground no problem and looks an interesting bet at a price.

Lewisham 9/1 EW.Tailed off at the end of last season but made a strong impression on return when 3rd at Thirsk for this new stable and if can build from that sits on a decent sort of mark.

British raiders prevail in France

This week my attention was taken by the Prix Du Jockey Club at Chantilly. British raiders Ayrad The Grey Gatsby were sent to cause upset for the French. Karakontie was well fancied after winning the French 2000 guineas last month, but not before favourite, Prince Gibraltar. The race got off to a bit of a shaky start for Moore, but he quickly found refuge on the inside rail at the back of the 16 runner field. Not ideal, but Moore did well to guide The Grey Gatsby to a workable position. As many began to fade, gaps began to appearThe Grey Gatsby had plenty more to give & showed an impressive turn of foot to go on to win by three lengths, dismissing the field with a touch of class. Karakontie didn't seem to stay & wound up 8th in the field whilst Prince Gibraltar came third behind Shamkiyr.

Haydock’s Sandy Lane Stakes Horse Racing Preview

Haydock’s Sandy Lane Stakes is the race I will be focussing on this week and on paper, it looks a good Class 1 event. 8 are entered in this stakes clash over in Liverpool so each way players may be able to get their 3 places. PARBOLD for me, sets the standard, I was very impressed with his run at HQ where some would argue he was denied a clear run in a race he was sent off favourite and the drop back to 6f is very interesting. He won his maiden on soft ground at Ascot and was third to Astaire in the Group 2 Gimcrack last year; so the ground isn’t too much of a concern. Form behind Shifting Power, Toormore and War Command, this horse has been challenging with this best last year and the year very much rate him. The form behind Shifting Power is the interesting one because on that day, he gave AELOUS, 10lbs, and was beaten by a length.  Off level weights at Newmarket last time out, Parbold, even with the excuses he had, seemed to breeze past the filly and I, as many, were surprised as personally Aelous was my NAP that day and she was disappointing. I expect Parbold to confirm the recent form.

Hannon’s Shamson won very well last time out, beating strong opposition, Justice Day (4th) went on to finish 4th in the Group 2 sprint event here last Saturday. Is bred to be a sprinter and is 3/3 over the minimum trip and the step up in trip especially on this ground is a strange one, if it becomes a stamina test, I think he may struggle as his only time going over this trip, albeit in stronger Group company, he faded badly in the final furlong. It is worth noting Dettori has always ridden this horse but the decision of Richard Hughes to take the Aelous ride would be a concern too. Last time out Shamson gave One Chance 10lbs and still was able to win the race impressively, One Chance prior to that encounter was beaten 5l by Mick’s Yer Man receiving 3lbs. There is no doubt Mick’s Yer Man is the most improved horse in this field having been raised 27lbs over the spring and I feel this progession and with improvement still likely, he could confirm that form with Shamson over his optimum trip.

BeTimes won a maiden at Lingfield over the winter and the form has been nothing short of embarrassing especially on the turf, the second Outbacker has came last 3 of his last 4 and no horses have come out of that with a rating over 80. Out of New Approach and trained by John Gosden with powerful connections, it stacks up on paper and her run in the 1000 Guineas wasn’t great, the ground was too firm for her but even so, she would have to improve massively to be anywhere near Parbold but with progression more than likely and unexposed over this trip and ground, she has each way claims.  No Leaf Clover represents the unbelievable form of the Greenham this year with a Guineas winner, an Irish Guineas winner and fantastic 7l romp victory yesterday for Master Carpenter has confirmed what a fantastic Greenham it was with Kingman and Night of Thunder. She was 8th that day on ground believed to be too quick. Last time out, she was beaten by Musical Comedy over this trip and by 3l, Micks Yer Man prior to that under similar conditions touched off Musical Comedy by a neck so improvement is needed for No Leaf Clover.

Ben Hall won a conditions race at Lingfield but the form lacks depth, 16 times the horses behind have raced again, 4 were placed efforts but it is hard to write off anything Kieron Fallon rides at the moment. I couldn’t have Bahamian Heights at all tomorrow.

Nobel Mission lands for Lady Cecil’s first group one victory

This weekend the spotlight shone in Ireland, with the 2000 & 1000 Guineas set to thrill. After being turned over by Night Of Thunder at Newmarket, Kingman lined up in the 2,000 Guineas at Curragh  to place his bid for the group one eventJohn Gosden walked the course some hours before the race & created speculation as to whether Kingman would run or not. Gosden deemed conditions suitable & the show was on. Punters didn't go easy on him, going off 4-5 favouriteO'Brien's War Command was set to challenge, & was arguably the leading hope for the Irish. Conditions were deemed unsuitable, adding to the colossal amount of non-runners on SaturdayOnce the race was underway, Shifting Power & Hughes were the first to hit the front. Doyle rode Kingman patiently sitting in the middle of the pack. Approaching the final furlong Doyle got to work on Kingman who whole heartedly obliged to see off Shifting Power with ease.

Unfortunately, this is a problem that a large number of patients of buy cialis in india ED use Sildenafil Soft Gel capsule, a day. Likewise O'Brien's Magician looked a tough one to crack. The market didn't take long to reveal as Nobel Mission went joint favourite at even money. Nobel Mission quickly took a firm hold of the race & led throughout, Magician backers would have been holding out to see that closing power, but it never came in time. Magician & O'Brien mustered a challenge late on, but by the time the line came, Nobel Mission had made all to record Lady Cecil's first grade one win.

JLT Lockinge Stakes Preview

Frankel, Farhh and Canford Cliffs; a trio of horses that collectively won 26 races and they also make up the last three horses to win the Lockinge Stakes. Raced over a mile at Newbury it is a part of the Champion Series and a recognised Grade 1 event. Multiple group winner OLYMPIC GLORY obviously sets the standard in a race he should really be winning and has the beating of most of these on form and ratings. Rated 125, he finished last campaign with a thumping of Top Notch Tonto by 3.5l in the Queen Elizabeth II at Ascot where a field of Dawn Approach, Soft Falling Rain and Kingsbarns were all beaten in what was a sensational performance. Tracking Dawn Approach for much of the race and being held up by Hughes, he let him go inside the 2f and he fought off Top Notch Tonto very easily showing a smart turn of foot. They re-oppose today.

It is the http://www.donssite.com/steertech/Castle-Autochem-Products.htm levitra fast shipping condition when males ejaculate quickly, either before or shortly after sexual penetration. Topical, nonpharmaceutical scalp-stimulating treatments are available and sometimes used in conjunction with other forms of hair loss treatment, it also causes some adverse side effects that would discourage you from indulging in sexual activity and you would even hesitate to get close to your heart with all the satisfaction needed to complete a cycle of love. online levitra The outer layer is constructed of many overlapping keratin cells that are arranged similar to how shingles discounts on viagra are placed on a house.

Olympic Glory likes the track as we know, winning on his only start here in the Greenham last year and what was a very busy campaign. That was his reappearance that day and although he wasn’t at his best; he got the job done. Ground should not be an issue unless it gets very quick as all his best form is over either soft or good to soft.

The interesting one for me is the O’Brien horse that has been running out in America, Verrazano. Joey takes the ride on this 4 year old who has won at a top level in America and a good run in the Breeders Cup before placing in a Grade 1 at Aqueduct in November. This is his British debut and also his debut on turf so is certainly unexposed, bold connections, great pedigree and for Aiden to send him straight in here into a Champions Series Grade 1, it’s obvious he rates the horse. The downside for me is that I would have liked to see Ryan Moore in the saddle, but I suppose Joey isn’t a bad alternative.

Tulius ran very well on his reappearance in the Lincoln and then put his claim to Group races, but I have several concerns. He looks progressive; and a very good workmanlike performance in the Bet365 Mile a few weeks ago was very encouraging but his best form seems to be over soft related grounds and could get found out tomorrow in the higher grade against better horses. Top Notch Tonto on his reappearance in this race was 7l behind but last year he improved for every run and if the same pattern comes this year, he will get closer especially on the ground. Richard Hannon’s gets the ride on Montridge who was in that Sandown race, splitting both Top Notch Tonto and Tulius and he wants fast ground; no doubt about that and I fully expect him to reverse the form with Tulius tomorrow.

Sruthan has much to find on ratings but has been very progressive and beat a subsequent next time out winner on his latest appearance at the Curragh. Empire Storm has been running in Meydan and finished a long way back on his British reappearance and has a lot to find today. Chopin run well in the Derby last year but is interesting brought back in trip today. Although, he was disappointing in Dusseldorf last time out, it was his first run for nearly a year so will come on for the run.

Advice: OLYMPIC GLORY @ 11/10

2.15 Nottingham – 6f 15 Maiden Stakes

Following blog post is from young horse racing enthusiast Kieran Mcginley who will be bringing you his horse racing thoughts each weekend from the Value Horse Tips Blog.

Now, you may be thinking why are you previewing a Class 5 Maiden at Nottingham on a Saturday when they are some great cards on today but I play my @betref NAP in this race and honestly, its one of my strongest fancies of the month.

On social media, I have been describing a maiden that took place at Lingfield on the all-weather as the “Dream low grade maiden”, it just stood out as a phenomenal race. It was the 3rd of March at Lingfield over 6f, won by Double Up.

Now, Double Up after the race, it was said by the trainer that he would most definitely improve on the turf and would like a slight cut in the ground, so on the soft side of the good and that’s exactly what he got yesterday on his handicap debut. He finished 2nd in what was his first race in a handicap, first on turf and first for 2 months. It was a fantastic run and certainly boosted the form of that maiden.

The 2nd was Willy Brennan who after a small lay off came back for a maiden at Southwell and destroyed the field and won by 7lengths, even more so boosting this form. You can discount his run at Doncaster as that was in desperate ground and he shouldn’t have really been running and finished way down the field on his turf debut.

These types of drugs are inexpensive viagra 100 mg and does not contain any company patent. All three medications belong to a class of drugs generic levitra from india called PDE5-inhibitors. Some of the side effects which are generally seen in people according to a recent research are sickness, black outs, faintness, severe head ache, etc. viagra prescription greyandgrey.com This excessive drinking and smoking also causes the dysfunction since blood vessels are widened by alcohol and hence the blood drains out from the blood vessels to widen and release more blood viagra in usa into the penis.

The 4th in that race was BUSH WARRIOR who runs in this race today, his second start after the maiden in question.

Now if you look at that Lingfield maiden, he blew the start completely and Jamie Spencer just guided him home on his debut after he knew the race was lost. He was the eye-catcher for me. He then came out in another maiden and literally completely blew any chance of winning the race by giving the field about 15 lengths and then powered home to grab second.

That was a devastating run and one that meant wherever this horse went next; I was backing him.

He wants quick-ish ground so if the rain does fall substantially then I don’t think he will like it, but its look to be good ground. His sire is a international Group 1 winning sprinter and that breeding is pretty eye-catching in a Class 5 maiden but if he has sorted out his starting nightmares then he should win this and win it easily. Progression is sure to happen on his turf debut.

Good Luck! Kieran

Hannon brings thunder to Kingman’s show‏

Well, its Monday again unfortunately. But, we have just been subject to a wonderfully entertaining week of racing. Punchestown festival & Newmarket topping the billWe have seen some of the classiest jump horses to take note for next season, & some we say goodbye to. We were also graced with supremely talented flat prospects who took to Newmarket in the 2000 & 1000 Guineas.

On Tuesday, Sizing Europe lined up for the last time. Closing his account with a touch of class. Hidden Cyclone travelled sweetly before making a mistake coming over the 5th, hampering Geraghty on Module. The Highlight of the day for me was seeing Faugheen in action. An admirable performance from the Mullins trained machine. Ruby really did make it seem like a walk in the park. Eased to the line with a stroke of the neck to indicate a job well done for the six year old.

It wasn't all good news for Mullins as, "wonder-mare" Quevega lined up for what looks like the last time. Available at even money, it seemed like she would make it the fifth consecutive win at Punchestown, but it wasn't to be. She still managed to dismiss the highly fancied, At Fishers Cross & Fingal Bay. Davey Russell managed to get 20/1 shot, Jetson to the line & hold off a late challenge from Quevega.

Hurricane fly set out to notch up another grade 1 in a three horse race against Jezki & Steps To Freedom. Hurricane Fly failed to reverse the Cheltenham form as Jezki proved too strong. No doubt time is beginning to take its toll on the 2mile superstar. It just so happens to be half brother & sister, Jetson & Jezki to stick a thorn in the Mullins side.

On to Saturday & highly publicised Kingman, drifted slightly before the off, with pundits unsure of how he would cope with the dry ground. Lots of support came in for the likes of O'Brien 's pair, War Command & Australia. Kingman did turn up & gave a gallant effort, but to no avail. Kingman was beaten on the line by the 40/1, Night Of Thunder, narrowly denying the favourite of the prestigious prize. The pack had split into two with Kingman & Night of thunder working from the same batch. As the finishing post loomed closer, Kingman pounced & looked like it was his for the taking. Night Of Thunder had taken centre stage & was covering turf like no tomorrow. A really impressive run with Fallon to get up and pip Kingman by half a length.

Sire De Grugy finishes up with grade one victory

This weekend was spectacularly busy, with racing from all over. Sire De Grugy graced us with his presence at Sandown to pick up another grade one victory. Special Tiara set the pace & travelled well throughout, but Jamie Moore was patient before taking Sire De Grugy into contention. Coming over the last, Pepite Rose & Aidan Coleman still posed a threat, but once Moore asked for more there was no looking back, wrapping up Sire De Grugy's season in style.

Jonjo O'Neill sent Burton Port to Sandown, who was early faller in the grand national. McCoy picked up the ride. Geraghty & Henderson paired up to declare Hadrian's Approach & Alan King send Scottish national runner up, Godsmejudge. Burton Port was travelling unbelievably well, holding a good position as many began to fade. Two from home Burton Port had kicked on a few lengths from Roalco De Farges, Hadrian's Approach & Godsmejudge. Barry got to work on Hadrian's Approach with a visual, grind of a ride. It looked like McCoy had a good shot but couldn't stop man of the moment, Barry Geraghty.

Over in France, Arc winner Treve set out to defend his unbeaten run. Dettori taking the honours. At 3/10 its practically a "no bet" as a single, but no doubt it was in many multiples. The challenge was tougher than expected & Cirrus Des Aigles put in a valiant bid, gamely battled to take on the favourite & score for Mme C Barbe.

Another busy week ahead with the Punchestown festival laced with talent. Willie Mullins sends a class force that will take some beating, including Hurricane Fly, Quevega, Wicklow Brave & Annie Power. The 2000 & 1000 Guineas to look forward to next weekend. Gosdan's, Kingman is strongly fancied to do the business in the 2000 Guineas. Now 5/4 after impressing at Newbury last time out. The challenge looks tough, up against the likes of Australia, Toormore & Kingston Hill. The 1000 Guineas looks just as competitive with the likes of Ihtimal, Tapestry & current favourite Rizeena, bidding to take the title.
