It’s Royal Ascot week 2013, and we have been looking forward to the meeting for quite some time as we look to take advantage of the 5 day bonanza of quality racing, bookmaker’s generosity and connections going all out to win on every horse. It has to be the best 5 day’s of flat racing in the year, so we better all make the most of it!
Each day we aim to bring you pointers in each race to where we feel the value is, along with information for the day including bookmaker’s offers.
2.30 1m 0f Class 1 Queen Anne Stakes – A cracking opener and we fancy taking on Animal Kingdom at current price of Evens.Clearly the classy horse of the race but over this trip, odds on looks a tad on the short side and worth taking on using Paddy Power’s offer of refunding bets if horse loses to the favourite up to £100. We will take a punt with Aljamaaheer 14/1 EW who has made steady progress and left the impression that there is more to come from him.He has only finished out of the places once and looks a solid betting proposition.
Result: 2nd +1.25
3.05 5f Class 1 Kings Stand Stakes – We are happy enough to again go against the overly short pried favourite here with Reckless Abandon 6/1 EW, who looks to be a bet to nothing EW with Bet365 & Sjy Bet paying the 4 places. He will have to improve againn for Clive Cox but given he was pitched against much more expeirenced horses last time finished a really creditible 2nd place and will have come on for that run.gets in at a nice weight here and deserves place in the line up, and should have more as a 3yo.
Result: 5th -1
3.45 1m 0f Class 1 St Jamess Palace Stakes – We have to take Dawn Approach on in this one and Magician 11/4 is the obvious starting point. He was imperious when winning the Irish 2000 Guineas and looks sure to run his race here.Really has looked a different class this term and can continue upward curve in taking this. Looks the value option considering Dawn Approach’s problems, but that is not to say DA is not a classy horse and well able to bounce back.
Result: 9th -1
4.25 6f Class 1 Coventry Stakes – Impossible race to call, with so many likely improvers and we would advise side stepping on the betting front. If we chose one however it would be Buick on board Riverboat Springs 11/1 EW who got it trouble in running last time but caught the eye.
Result: 13th -1
5.00 2m 4f Class 2 Ascot Stakes -Would advise extreme caution in this field and it would be no surprise to see a big price take this. In terms of value options we have looked into several runners and like Mysterious Man 16/1 EW who we feel is worth a chance at this trip judged on evidence and our friend Lietenant Miller 12/1 EW who won for us last time out, and given stamina should not be an issue looks a good bet.
Result: 3rd +1
5.35 5f Class 1 Windsor Castle Stakes – Ogermeister 7/1 EW (4 places skybet) looks a speedy type and won with a great chance as the yard attempts to build on good record in this race.Likely the horse will have been primed for this assignment and with Tounge Tie on can go well, however again punters should be cautious as there will be a few that go under the radar here.
