Cheltenham Update

By Abby Rugg

Sitting at my desk while the Cheltenham Festival goes ahead can be quite tough.
Twitter updates are all I have to find out the results, which horse fell and who was riding the outsider which beat the favourite.
Sometimes I have to stop myself yelling out in triumph or annoyance so that I do not draw attention to myself in the office.
Day three of the festival will be another great day’s racing – the Ladbrokes World Hurdle is the feature race and I am envious of the thousands of people who are descending to Cheltenham to watch the greatest show on turf.
The Cheltenham team have done a fantastic job maintaining the course, so credit must go to them for keeping hopes high and the track raceable.
But Gold Cup day is nearly upon us and with all the excitement, I have to try very hard to stay in my chair when 15.20 approaches.
The Festival is a world-class spectacle and it does the sport proud: with all the negative press racing receives, it’s wonderful to see thousands of specators descend to the racecourse.
Fingers crossed the success continues and good luck to everyone who has placed a bet!
